Dr. Maike Hofmann (A02) was awarded this year’s Adolf Kussmaul Prize from the Southwest German Society for Gastroenterology at the end of June. Hofmann recently showed that virus-specific CD8 + T cells have a molecular scar and are no longer fully functional, even after a successfully treated chronic hepatitis C virus infection. These findings are relevant for the development of new therapies.
