Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize for Scientist of CRC1160

Dec 06, 2019

Prof. Dr. Marco Prinz (C03) is one of ten scientists to receive the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize 2020.

Prof. Prinz is honored for his outstanding work in the field of neuroimmunology, which has led to a fundamentally new understanding of the immune response in the brain. The DFG states that his discoveries have specified the present picture of an extremely heterogeneous population of immune cells in the brain towards more distinct cell types and signaling pathways. His research points the way to new treatment options for inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases in the central nervous system.

The prize, worth 2.5 million euros, is considered the most important research award in Germany.
