One hour of cutting-edge research: benefits and harm by the immune system – a delicate balance

In the current situation, it is a central voice of science: The Leopoldina – National Academy of Sciences is the oldest permanent natural research academy in the world. The lecture series “One hour of cutting-edge research” offers exciting insights into top-class research. The topics range from anxiety disorders and pioneering developments in rare diseases to the latest therapeutic approaches for cancer.

All speakers at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg and the Medical Faculty of the University of Freiburg are members of the Leopoldina – National Academy of Sciences.

On Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 6.30 p.m., Prof. Dr. Stephan Ehl, Medical Director of the Center for Chronic Immunodeficiency at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg and spokesman for the SFB 1160 (A01), talks about “Benefits and harm from the immune system – a delicate balance“.

In his lecture, he gives examples of how clinical observations on individual patients provide fundamental insights into the structure and function of the human immune system.
